In February, the Lakers stunned the basketball world by acquiring Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for the championship-caliber big man Anthony Davis.
The five-time All-NBA selection and five-time All-Star immediately made an impact, averaging 28.2 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.7 rebounds per game while helping the Lakers secure 50 wins and the third seed in the Western Conference.
Despite a first-round playoff exit at the hands of Minnesota, Doncic expressed immense satisfaction with his first season in Los Angeles, which led him to commit to the Lakers for the remainder of his 20s—and almost certainly beyond.
The offseason also saw the Lakers make significant roster moves to surround their Slovenian star and co-superstar LeBron James with more talent, bringing in former Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart and former top overall pick DeAndre Ayton.
