Penda began his basketball career with BC Fontenay and later played for clubs Villemomble and Levallois. In 2020–21, he joined Centre Fédéral de Basketball in the Nationale Masculine 1, the third tier of French basketball.
The 20-year-old signed a professional contract with JA Vichy-Clermont in the LNB Pro B, France’s second-tier league.
In his second season, he was named Second-Team All-LNB Pro B by Eurobasket.com and received the league’s Best Young Player award. In 2024, he moved up to France’s top-tier league, LNB Élite, signing with Le Mans Sarthe Basket.
Penda’s selection continued France’s strong presence in the 2025 NBA Draft. The Paris-born forward became the fourth French player drafted this year, following Noa Essengue (11th to the Bulls), Joan Beringer (17th to the Timberwolves), and Nolan Traoré (19th to the Nets).
