What went down
All winning streaks, as Steve Kerr and the core of the 73-9 Warriors know, end at some point. Today, their less historic yet still impressive seven-game win streak came to an end in Charlotte as the Hornets proved just a bit too much.
Still, the best team in the league went down as you would expect the best team in the league to go down – fighting up to the final minute. Miles Bridges, a favorite for Most Improved Player of the Year, shook Draymond Green off balance just enough to sneak a short hook shot past the former Defensive Player of the Year to give Charlotte the lead.

The Warriors had a chance to tie after a sequence of crisp passes found Kevon Looney, who was fouled but missed the subsequent charities. With less than 30 seconds left, Terry Rozier finished off the Warriors with a couple of free throws that put the game out of reach.
Charlotte deserves credit for their defense, most especially for deterring Steph Curry from waltzing into a dagger in the final minutes. Still, it took the Warriors shooting 9-for-39 from deep for them to lose by the tightest of margins.
Rozier, Bridges, and LaMelo Ball all crossed the 20-point barrier for the Hornets, who improved their record to 8-7 for the season.
Golden State dropped to 11-2 on a game Curry shot 31 percent from the field. Steph isn’t going to shoot like that every game. The Warriors still look like they aren’t going to lose many games this year.

Big-time baller
Trae Young missed two games in the Eastern Conference Finals last season against the Milwaukee Bucks. Even when he returned, Ice Trae looked tepid.
Today, Young looked like he was on a mission against the Bucks. He punished the Bucks’ drop coverage en route to 42 points, which includes eight triples with 10 assists and eight boards.
7 THREES FOR TRAE IN THE 1ST HALF.

The Hawks needed every bit of this from Young as they were spiraling down a six-game losing streak. If Young doesn’t want to be snubbed for the All-Star Game again, he needs games like this to come more consistently.
What he said
Steve Nash is one of the coolest people to play in the NBA ever. He skateboarded, played soccer, and had terrific hair.
He was also a cool teammate. His appearance on the Knuckleheads Podcast is legendary.
Which leads us to this response to fellow Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, calling himself the Black Steve Nash. Young fella probably doesn’t know that Steve Nash is the Black Steve Nash.
Steve Nash was asked about Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander calling himself “the black Steve Nash” in a GQ article this past summer. He saw it and made him laugh. Is proud of all the young talent Canada has produced in recent years. Nash has praised Lu Dort before, too.

Did you see that?
Anthony Davis barely missed out on the big-time baller today with his monstrous 34-15 double-double. You were probably still sleeping when this game started.
Here’s the game summed up in one highlight:
