Superstars shone and underdogs roared as Day 2 of FIBA EuroBasket 2025 delivered a mix of commanding wins and early upsets.
Two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo fired 31 points as Greece rolled past Italy, 75-66, in its Group C opener.
Though Antetokounmpo was the lone double-digit scorer for the Greeks, it was enough to overcome an Italian side that managed to score just 25 combined points in the first and third quarters.
Greece will next face Cyprus, who absorbed a 91-64 beatdown at the hands of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Meanwhile, reigning Olympic silver medalist France aced its first tournament test with a comfortable 92-64 romp of Belgium in Group D.
Bilal Coulibaly led Les Bleus with 12 points as all 12 players on the French team appeared on the scoresheet in a dominant effort.
Meanwhile, Sandro Mamukelashvili delivered an all-around performance as Georgia completed an 83-69 upset of defending champions Spain in Group C.
The Toronto Raptors forward finished with 19 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, becoming just the second Georgian player to post a 15/5/5 stat line in a EuroBasket game after Tornike Shengelia, who accomplished the feat twice.
Goga Bitadze added 15 points while the trio of Kamar Baldwin, Tornike Shengelia, and Duda Sanadze combined for 36 points in a balanced effort.
Not to be outdone, Poland staged its own dramatic upset in Group D, with Jordan Loyd exploding for 32 points to lead a 105-95 victory over Luka Doncic and Slovenia.

Loyd became the first Polish player since 1995 to hit seven threes in a single EuroBasket game, helping Poland replicate its 2022 quarterfinal triumph with another commanding performance.
Doncic, on the other hands, finished with 34 points, nine assists, five steals, and four rebounds, becoming the first player in EuroBasket history to record at least 30 points, five assists, and five steals in a single game.
Israel got a boost from its stars as Roman Sorkin and Deni Avdija propelled the team past Iceland, 83-71.
Sorkin poured in 31 points with five rebounds, including four from beyond the arc, while Avdija narrowly missed a double-double with 20 points, nine boards, and three blocks.
