Stephon Castle emerged as the runaway winner of the 2025 Rookie of the Year honors, becoming the fourth player in franchise history to win the award.

Castle joined teammate Victor Wembanyama (2024), Tim Duncan (1997), and David Robinson (1990) as Spurs who received the top rookie distinction.

San Antonio also became the first team to have back-to-back ROTY winners since the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2014-15 (Andrew Wiggins) and 2015-16 (Karl-Anthony Towns).

The fourth overall pick in last year’s draft got 92 first-place votes and finished with 482 total points, beating Atlanta’s Zaccharie Risacher (245) and Memphis’ forward Jaylen Wells (123).

Castle impressed in his first year with the Spurs, posting 14.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in 81 games including being named as the 2025 Rising Stars MVP.

The 20-year-old also led all rookies in total points (1,190), field goals made (423), steals (74) and free throws made (249).

Castle recorded 60 double-digit scoring games — 26 contests with 20 or more points and twice dropping 30 or more markers —  which topped all rookies.

Despite missing the playoffs for the sixth straight season., San Antonio tallied their most wins (34) since the 2021-22 season.
