BRANDON MILLER GOES OFF FOR A CAREER-NIGHT AS FRANZ WAGNER SAVES THE DAY FOR MAGIC

  • Charlotte Hornets (6-9) def. Detroit Pistons (7-10), 123-121: It was a memorable early birthday celebration for Brandon Miller after his career-night propelled the Hornets to an overtime squeaker over the Pistons.

  • Brandon Balled Out in Buzz City: Miller dropped 38 points built on another career-high of eight threes, including two in overtime. He scored eight in the extra session as Charlotte avoided a monumental collapse after squandering a 20-point lead.

LaMelo Ball had 35 points and nine assists before fouling out in overtime.

The duo became the first Hornet tandem to score 35 points or more in a single game.

Cade Cunningham finished with a double-double of 27 points and 10 assists before exiting a game with a hip injury with 48 seconds remaining in regulation.

  • Miller on his career-night vs. Pistons: “Competing in front of the home crowd, we just want to give them something to celebrate about.”
  • Wagner Magic: Wagner capped off a 37-point, 10-assist night with a clutch game-winning three over the outstretched arms of Cam Reddish.

The Magic capitalized on Anthony Davis’ three missed three free throws in the final 27 seconds including the last-gasp attempt to steal the game for the Lakers.

Wagner became the first Magic to drop 35 or more points and 10 or more assists in a game, joining Anfernee Hardaway and Tracy McGrady.

Orlando’s stunning road win ended the Lakers’ six-game winning run and 7-0 start at home.

  • Jalen Suggs on Wagner’s game-winner: "That's like a movie moment."

  • San Antonio Spurs (8-8) def. Utah Jazz (3-12), 126-118: No Wemby, no problem as the Spurs rallied from 18 points down to trounce the Jazz.

  • Toronto Raptors (4-12) def. Minnesota Timberwolves (8-7), 110-105: RJ Barrett helped the Raptors in adding misery to Timberwolves, who are still looking for their first win in Toronto in 20 years.

  • Welcome back, Scottie B: Scottie Barnes returned after missing 11 games due to a right orbital fracture and finished with 17 points and six dimes in 27 minutes.

It also marked the debut of the Raptors’ a new, yet classic look of the Scotiabank Arena--highlighted by the return of the dinosaur Raptors logo at mid-court wearing a No. 15 jersey, in honor of  Vince Carter.
