There’s no shortage of gratitude for Jimmy Alapag as the Sacramento Kings wrapped up their 2025 NBA Summer League campaign with a solid performance.
Alapag served as one of the assistant coaches for the Kings, who finished as runners-up to the eventual champions Charlotte Hornets in this year’s edition of the preseason tournament.
“Another Summer League in the books. Blessed to work with another great group of young players. The work continues,” the former Gilas Pilipinas team captain wrote in an Instagram post.
The Kings fell short of a third Summer League crown after suffering an 83-78 loss to the Kon Knueppel-led Hornets squad in the championship game.
Despite the loss, Alapag was encouraged by the performances of rookie Nique Clifford and rising sophomore Isaac Jones, who were named to the All-Summer League First and Second Teams, respectively.

Sacramento is now gearing up for a training camp in late September, with head coach Doug Christie having a full offseason to work with the squad.
Last season, the Kings fired Mike Brown—who is now coaching the New York Knicks—and traded away former franchise cornerstone De’Aaron Fox midseason.

Sacramento also missed the playoffs for the second straight year after their surprising 2023 run, with Alapag remaining as the player development coach despite the coaching change with Christie at the helm.
The Kings welcomed former All-Star Zach LaVine to a core that includes big man Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan, and Malik Monk.

Despite losing big man Jonas Valanciunas and Jake LaRavia, the Kings added Dennis Schröder, Drew Eubanks, and Dario Šaric, while re-signing Doug McDermott in the offseason.
