The greatest single-season scoring run in the WNBA now belongs to A’ja Wilson.

The Aces star had 27 points and 12 rebounds on the night she broke the WNBA single-season scoring record, as the two-time defending champion Las Vegas staved off Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, 86-75, on the road.

The 2024 MVP frontrunner returned from a leg injury and surpassed Jewell Loyd’s total of 939 points set last year, after connecting a mid-range jumper from the free throw line with 26.4 ticks left at halftime.

Wilson entered the game 11 points away from passing Loyd and she already had 10 points in the first quarter alone.

Wilson now has 956 points this season and is on track to be the first player in league history to reach 1,000 markers in a year.

What’s more impressive is that the two-time champion needed just 35 games to top last year’s record set by Loyd, who accomplished the feat in 38 games.

With Indiana threatening to come back at 72-66 with 7:19 left in regulation, Wilson scored eight straight Las Vegas points in a two-minute span for an 80-71 lead with 4:04 seconds left.

The Aces kept the lead the rest of the way for a nice bounce back dub after folding against the league-leading New York Liberty in their last outing.

Alysha Clark finished chipped in 14 points while Tiffany Hayes and Chelsea Gray added 12  and 11 markers respectively for Las Vegas, who now improved to 23-13 won won 14 straight against the Fever in their head-to-head series.

Kelsey Mitchell topscored the Fever with 24 points, while Clark had 16 markers but missed nine of her 10 three-point attempts. The Aces are the only team the Fever were not beat this season. But Indiana will get another chance when both squads meet again on Saturday, September 14 (PH Time).
