The NBA has officially unveiled the rosters for the 2025 Castrol Rising Stars game, with Victor Wembanyama and Zach Edey leading the crop of young talent set to take center stage at the Chase Center in San Francisco on February 15, Philippine time, as part of NBA All-Star Weekend.
Rising Stars Selection Process
- The 21 NBA players in the Rising Stars game—11 sophomores and 10 rookies—were chosen by NBA assistant coaches, who submitted ballots selecting four frontcourt players, four guards, and two additional players at either position.
- Players received points based on their ranking in the ballots, with the final roster featuring one extra sophomore due to total votes received.
- Additionally, seven NBA G League players earned spots in the showcase, rounding out the 28-player field.
How the Rising Stars Game Works
- The Rising Stars event will follow a mini-tournament format with four teams and three games: The 21 NBA players will be drafted into three seven-player teams by honorary coaches.
- The seven G League players will form the fourth team.
- The draft will be held on February 5 (Philippine time), airing on the NBA app and its social media platforms.
- Semifinal games will be played first to 40 points.
- The final game will be played first to 25 points, with the winner earning a spot in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game.
