Two of the NBA’s premier guards are headed to San Francisco.
Trae Young and Kyrie Irving are named as replacements for the 2025 All-Star Game next week to replace two injured big men Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Davis.

Young superseded two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks while Irving took the spot of newly Dallas Maverick teammate Anthony Davis.

Antetokounmpo is expected to miss the mid-season extravaganza due to a left calf strain, paving the way for the Atlanta Hawks superstar to be named as his replacement.

That means Young will be making his fourth All-Star appearance and will join Team Chuck alongside Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs to name a few.
He averaged 23.5 points and a league-leading 11.4 assists through 49 games this season and became just the 10th player in Hawks history to make at least four All-Star teams.
Meanwhile, Irving will play in his ninth All-Star game after Davis suffered a left adductor strain in his Maverick debut.

The 32-year-old veteran guard was named the ASG MVP way back in 2014 and will now play under Team Shaq alongside LA Lakers’ LeBron James, Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant and more.
Irving, a 2016 champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers, is currently norming 24.1 points, 4.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds in 42 games this season.
