Joel Embiid’s 36-18 performance towed the Sixers to a victory over the Cavaliers. Steph Curry delivered a 50-piece in a losing effort against the Clippers.

Scoreboard

76ers 118, Cavaliers 109

Heat 138, Grizzlies 119

Kings 117, Bulls 114

Rockets 114, Lakers 110

Celtics 104, Timberwolves 102

Mavericks 137, Spurs 128 (OT)

Clippers 134, Warriors 126

What went down

The Sixers have now won six straight following their impressive victory over the Cavaliers. Joel Embiid powered his team with 36 points and 18 rebounds. James Harden was Philadelphia’s second-leading scorer with 28 points while Tyrese Maxey continued his strong showing this season with 23 points.

In a battle between two playoff contenders, the breaks of the game belonged to Philly. The Sixers were clinging on to a seven-point lead as Embiid was issued a charging foul with roughly four minutes left. Fortunately, he was able to stay in the game thanks to the call being overturned. That sequence turned out to be one of the pivotal moments of the contest as Embiid and the Sixers were able to hold on to the victory.

Caris LeVert led Cleveland with 24 points followed by 21 points from Donovan Mitchell.

Big-time baller

Fresh from celebrating his 35th birthday, Steph Curry erupted for 50 points. He shot a blistering 20-for-28 from the field, including eight triples on top of six assists and two steals. It was his 12th career 50-point game.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, Steph’s scoring outburst came in a losing effort versus the Clippers.

What he said

De’Aaron Fox drilled the game-winning 3-pointer with 0.7 seconds left to help the Kings defeat the Bulls. He finished with 32 points,15 coming in the fourth in another stunning display of clutch shooting.

Fox remains the leader in buckets in crunch time and his teammates have grown accustomed to his late-game heroics.

Did you see that?

This is a case of everything going right for the Spurs and everything going wrong for the Mavericks.

Dallas ended up with the victory in overtime but this was definitely a head-scratching moment for the squad.
