What went down

Joel Embiid fired 39 points and hit the game-winning basket with 1.1 seconds left to help the Sixers stun the Trail Blazers. The big man’s fadeaway jumper capped off a thrilling comeback where they rallied from 21 points down.

James Harden nearly had a triple-double with 19 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists while Tyrese Maxey and De’Anthony Melton added 13 apiece. Anfernee Simons top-scored for the Trail Blazers with 34 points.

After allowing 71 points in the first half, Philadelphia cranked up its defense. And by the final frame, the Sixers outscored their opponents, 35-23. It was the third time this season that the Sixers returned from a 20-point deficit.

Big-time ballers

The MVP race continues to be a hot topic around the league, especially after today’s performances from the leading candidates.

Not only did Joel Embiid have 39 points, but he also delivered the game-winner for the Sixers. He went 13-of-20 from the field and 13-of-18 from the line with seven rebounds and four assists. He was also active on defense, exhibited by his two steals and three blocks. The Philadelphia center has scored at least 30 points so far in all of his games in March.

Not to be outdone, Nikola Jokic had a triple-double of 37 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. Unfortunately, the Nuggets lost to a well-balanced scoring effort from the Spurs. The Nuggets were previously 25-0 when The Joker got a triple-double.

What he said

The Lakers are making a late-season push and they, fortunately, have D’Angelo Russell back to try to make it happen. He didn’t miss a beat in his return, dropping 28 points and nine assists in the win over the Raptors.
