What went down

The Denver Nuggets put an emphatic end to the Los Angeles Lakers’ seven-game winning streak with a 122-105 drubbing. It was a matchup between two Western Conference titans and the Nuggets were able to pull away late to notch their third straight victory. Nikola Jokic put the hammer down and came up with a 23-point, 16-rebound, and 10-assist triple-double. A total of six Nuggets scored in double figures with Jamal Murray leading the way with 25.

The Nuggets played exceptional basketball but the big story of the game was the injury to Anthony Davis. The Lakers star suffered a right Achilles strain and did not return for the Lakers in the second half.

Big-time baller

After scoring a career-high 46 points in his previous game, Luka Doncic dropped 44 points in a loss against the Portland Trail Blazers. He shot a whopping 70 percent from the field, going 14-for-20, while adding seven rebounds and nine assists. Unfortunately, he could not get the game-tying trey in the closing seconds as Damian Lillard and company got the win.

Doncic’s 90 points are the most he’s had in a two-game stretch.

What he said

Boston’s Jayson Tatum was held to a season-low six points in a loss to the Washington Wizards. The Celtic forward came into the game averaging 26.6 points but could not find the mark on Monday, hitting just 3-of-14 field goals in 23 minutes of action.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens knows that he has to manage the minutes of Tatum as well as his other star Jaylen Brown. Here’s what he said after the loss:

''Sometimes my 15-year-old asks me when I get home, `Why isn't Tatum in here? Why isn't Brown in here?' Because they have to sit sometimes. You can't play those guys 48 minutes a game every single night."

Did you see that?

If you don’t know who Facundo Campazzo is, here’s a good introduction:

He’s got a long way to go before he can take up the mantle as the next Argentinian star after Manu Ginobli, but it definitely looks like he’s got a lot of sauce in him.
