What went down

The Nets are probably the most dangerous team right now and they just took down the erstwhile East-leading Heat.

Brooklyn’s potential as a contender was once again on full display. Kevin Durant fired 23 points and Seth Curry added 17 as the Nets cruised to a 110-95 victory. They dropped 40 points in the second quarter to blow the game wide open and never looked back.

It only gets better for the Nets from here as Kyrie Irving will finally be able to play homes games. He is reportedly set to make his debut at the Barclays Center on Monday. The Nets are currently in eighth place with a 39-35 record.

On the flip side, things are not looking good for the Heat, who have suffered a season-worst fourth straight game. Head coach Erik Spoelstra was absent versus the Nets, attending a family matter. The Heat fell behind by as many as 37 points in the blowout.

With the loss, Miami dropped to second place with a 47-28 record and the race for the top spot in the East got tighter. The Sixers (46-27) moved into first place, but just hold a half-game lead over the Celtics and Bucks who have identical 46-28 cards.

Big-time baller

Is Nikola Jokic going to win the MVP award in back-to-back seasons? He continues to make his case with another all-around performance. Against the feisty Thunder squad, the Joker had 35 points on a near-perfect 13-for-15 shooting clip, on top of 12 rebounds, eight assists, two steals, and two blocks. It was all in a day’s work for the reigning MVP.

What he said

Even without Ja Morant, the Grizzlies were able to take down the defending champions. The Grizzlies continue to climb the standings and this win against a top contender is another reason to keep an eye on them.

Did you see that?

The Raptors-Pacers game was momentarily suspended because one of the speakers at the Scotiabank Arena caught fire. The contest was halted with 4:05 remaining in the second quarter with the Raptors ahead 66-38. Fans were asked to exit the venue.

After officials and firemen deemed the arena safe, the game resumed with no fans.
