What went down

The Lakers earned an inspiring comeback win over the Mavericks, overcoming a 27-point deficit on the road. It was the franchise’s biggest come-from-behind win since 2002.

Anthony Davis put his imprint on the game by dropping 30 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks. He was masterful in the fourth quarter as his slam gave the Lakers the lead with two minutes left. He also hit a clutch fadeaway with 18.1 seconds to go to extend his team’s advantage.

LeBron James scored 26 points and had to endure an apparent foot injury. He went down on a layup attempt clutching his right foot in the third quarter but managed to stay in the game. However, he was seen limping on his way out of the arena.

Big-time baller

Damian Lillard erupted for a career-high 71 points, becoming the eighth player in NBA history to score at least 70 points. He shattered his previous high of 61 points, which he did twice. At age 32, he also became the oldest player to have a 70-piece.

Lillard was 22-of-38 from the field, including a personal best 13 triples (one shy of tying the all-time record for 3s made in a single game), and 14-of-14 from the line, while also having six rebounds and six assists. He had 41 points at halftime en route to his epic performance.

After Donovan Mitchell dropped 71 points for Cleveland, this is the first season in league history where multiple players scored 70 points in a game.

What he said

The Lakers came back from a mountain of a deficit and coach Darvin Ham had nothing but praise for his squad.

Did you see that?

Things are looking up for the Hawks. On the same day Trae Young hit a buzzer-beater to beat a feisty Nets team, it was reported that Atlanta will have a new coach. Quin Snyder is set to man the sidelines for the next five years, including the remainder of the season. Snyder, who last coached the Jazz, is expected to be on the bench as early as the Hawks’ next game.
