Coast-to-Coast: White-hot Aces make it nine straight wins, Dream hand Lynx first back-to-back loss

There’s simply no stopping reigning MVP A’ja Wilson and the red-hot Las Vegas Aces right now. 

Wilson and the surging Aces extended their winning streak to nine games, while the Atlanta Dream handed the No. 1 Minnesota Lynx their first losing skid of the season in a four-game WNBA Friday slate. 


ACES STAYS HOT; SKY SHOCK CHAMPION LIBERTY  

  • Las Vegas Aces (22-14) def. Phoenix Mercury (21-13), 83-61: Reigning MVP A'ja Wilson and the red-hot Aces rolled to their ninth straight win after crushing Alyssa Thomas and the Mercury at home. 

Wilson ended up with stellar 19-point, 13-rebound for his fifth double-double in the last six games for Las Vegas, who now jumped to no. 3 spot in the team standings and matched the franchise’ longest winning streak since moving to Sin City. 

  • Atlanta Dream (23-13) def. Minnesota Lynx (28-7), 75-73: In a high-stakes matchup between the top two teams, the no. 2 Dream handed the no. 1 Lynx their first back-to-back losses of the season in a thrilling contest.

Allisha Gray led the way with a team-high 27 points, marking her 15th 20-point game of the season. Atlanta's victory also tied the franchise's 2018 record of 23 wins, with more still to come.

  • Chicago Sky (9-26) def. New York Liberty (22-14), 91-85: Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese bullied their way inside as the Sky shocked the defending champion Liberty to snap a five-game skid.

Cordoso finished with 22 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, while Reese added her own-double-double outing of 21 markers and 10 boards in Chicago’s first road win victory in over two months. 

  • Connecticut Sun (8-27) def. Washington Mystics (16-20), 67-56: Tina Charles scored 20 points and the Sun down the Mystics to win back-to-back games for the first time this season. 

Besides recording his 12th 20 point game of the year, Charles moved into 10th place on the all-time games played list and jumped to 8th on the all-time free throws made list.
