Kyrie Irving's fourth-quarter explosion steered the Mavericks to a win, while the Lakers hosted a jersey retirement ceremony for Pau Gasol.

Scoreboard

Bucks 134, Magic 123
Wizards 119, Pistons 117
Hornets 112, Knicks 105
76ers 117, Timberwolves 94
Nets 118, Rockets 96
Thunder 137, Warriors 128
Mavericks 120, Jazz 116
Lakers 112, Grizzlies 103

What went down

The Dallas Mavericks are still in a transition period, trying to figure out how Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving can play well together.

Before the game against the Jazz today, Doncic and Irving have complemented each other well in their past two games. In the win over the Sixers, they each scored at least 40 points, then followed that up with 30-point games in the loss to the Suns. ??Slowly, Luka and Kai are learning how to play with each other, taking turns attacking the defense. But tonight in the win over the Jazz, it was Kyrie who shouldered the load when it mattered.

Irving scored 17 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter for Dallas, who moved up to fifth place in the West with the win. His co-star, Luka Magic, added 29 points and 10 rebounds.

The Jazz, on the other hand, suffered their fourth straight loss and are now four games below .500, a season-low.

Big-time ballers

For this section, I'm choosing two dudes who played in the same game.

Steph Curry, in his second game back from an injury, posted 40 points for the Warriors, who lost to OKC today. He made 10-of-16 3s and also had six rebounds and seven assists.

The Thunder were able to get the win behind an all-around performance from Josh Giddey, who scattered a triple-double of 17 points, 10 board, and 17 dimes.

Did you see that?

It was an emotional night in Los Angeles as the Lakers retired Pau Gasol's jersey. Rightfully so, his number was hung right beside the late Kobe Bryant.

What he said

Of course, Pau had a few words for his beloved teammate and dear friend.

"I miss him so much. I love him..."
