Bench gang rise up! Jordan Clarkson shows why he's a Sixth Man of the Year awardee.

Scoreboard

Thunder 128, Heat 120

Kings 123, Hornets 98

Pacers 112, Wizards 104

Clippers 126, Raptors 120

Jazz 124, Nuggets 111

What went down

The surging Utah Jazz defeated the reigning champions Denver Nuggets in Salt Lake City–thanks to the Jordan Clarkson-led bench gang.

The 2021 Sixth Man of the Year finished with 27 off the bench and shot 12 for 19, including three from the arc.

He also reached 11,000 career points.

This high-shooting game for the Jazz gave them their ninth victory in the last 11 games, Utah has been stringing three-game win streaks this year, first against Miami, Dallas, and Detroit, and now against Philadelphia, Milwaukee, and Denver.

Utah led early in the match and fended off any comebacks orchestrated by the Nuggets. Lauri Markkanen put in 26 points and 12 boards, Collin Sexton had 22, and John Collins had 15.

Nikola Jokic scored 27 markers and was nearly perfect shooting--eight for nine from the floor and 10 of 12 at the free throw line but it wasn’t enough to get the dub for the Nuggets.

The 28-year-old Jokic though did become the youngest player in NBA history to record 13,000+ points, 6,000+ rebounds, and 4,000+ assists in his career--a feat last achieved by LeBron James when he was 29.

Big-time baller

Paul George is King of the Fourth.

The power forward for the Los Angeles Clippers had 29 points overall in the 126-120 victory over the Toronto Raptors. Almost half of that came in the final frame.

His stat line in the last quarter is insane: 15 points. Three rebounds. Two assists. Dagger three.

Yeah PG13 is playing real fine today.

What he said

After signing an extension, Kawhi Leonard is primed for a playoff run with the 24-13 Clippers along with Paul George and James Harden. They sit fourth in the Western Conference.

"I think for the most part, everybody is coming back. With me signing an extension, I think it gives us a chance to sign both of those players,” he said.

Did you see that?

Chet Holmgren with the one-handed outlet pass on the run to the Lob from Cason Wallace to JDub. That’s Thunder basketball.

And it pretty much cooled down the Heat.

Extra Pass

On Friday, Philippine time, we will have a matchup between title contenders Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics.

The Celtics will be aiming to bring their home luck on the road, as they won nine of the last 11 games. Just ask the Timberwolves. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been shooting consistently and will be ready to earn another gritty win against the Bucks.

Meanwhile, the Bucks have been in a rut, losing four of their last five matches, and easily giving the Jazz a win. As a team, they’ve been aggressive in offense but keep finding themselves trailing in the last minutes of the matches. We will see them try to solve these bumps on the road in a surely intense ballgame versus Boston.

The game will air at 8:30 a.m. on January 12, Philippine time, on NBA TV Philippines.
