What went down
The TD Garden is looking really lucky right now.
The Celtics’ home win streak has faced a lot of challenges in recent weeks due to the absence of some key players, but none could compare to the Eastern Conference leader’s game against the Western Conference-leading Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Celtics were ahead of the Wolves, but the home team was left behind as Minnesota outscored them 32-25 in the third.
Down by nine points and with just four minutes left to play in regulation, the Celtics finally stopped the bleeding and found themselves in overtime.
Jayson Tatum led the charge for Boston, scoring 26 of his 45 points in the fourth quarter and in OT.
Minnesota was up by two at the last stretch, but Tatum didn’t shy away from the game. The 25 year-old guard gave the Celtics a 122-120 lead with his layup, and followed up by a three-pointer in the next play. He then sank two free throws to seal the deal for Boston, 127-120.

Jaylen Brown added 35 points and 11 boards to the victory, which allowed the franchise to break their winning record at home to 18-0. Overall, the Eastern Conference leaders are up, 29-8.
Anthony Edwards supplied 29 points for Minnesota, while Karl-Anthony Towns chipped in 25 points and 13 rebounds. The Timberwolves drop to 26-11.
Big-time baller
San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama looked like the biggest playmaker in the world as he posted his first career triple-double.
With a stat line of 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, the 20-year-old French star became the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double with zero turnovers (since turnovers were first tracked in 1977 to 1978).

What he said
Is it time to bring the New Orleans Pelicans into the conversation?
Trey Murphy III seems to think so after the visiting Pels beat the Golden State Warriors, 141-105, and climb to the sixth spot in the Western Conference.
"I would say we have the deepest team in the entire league... We're about close to where we need to have that conversation about the Pelicans cause we're on the way,” he said.
Prompted regarding which conversation Murphy was referring to, he replied, “You know what conversation I'm talking about.”

Meanwhile, Bay Area fans were not happy with the Warriors’ consecutive losses at home, as they drop 17-20 and become 12th in the West. K
lay Thompson though is keeping it chill despite the boos.
"I don't care. You supposedly lose sleep over it?"

Extra Pass
On Friday, Philippine time, we will be having the Los Angeles Lakers face the Phoenix Suns.
The Lakers were in a losing slump recently, but have since bounced back with a win against the Clippers and the Raptors. Considering their performance in the last two games, it seems that they are slowly finding their groove again with the roster.
Similar to their opponents, the Phoenix Suns have also not been in their best form this season. The preseason looked promising for the franchise when they acquired Bradley Beal. However, the pieces haven’t glued together for them.
It’s going to be an exciting game as this will be the third consecutive game with all three of the Phoenix's top three players of Beal, Booker, and Durant, on the court since Beal’s return. This face-off against the star duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis makes it entertaining for anyone who’s watching.
The game will air at 11:00 a.m., January 12, on Setanta Sport.
