The San Antonio Spurs are going all-in with De'Aaron Fox.
Both the Spurs and Fox agreed to a four-year, $229 million maximum contract extension that will keep the 27-year-old guard in San Antonio through the 2029-30 NBA season.
The move was made official on Tuesday (PH Time), August 5.

Fox arrived in San Antonio as a major trade deadline acquisition last season from the Sacramento Kings. However, Fox missed the final 18 games of the 2024-25 regular season due to tendon damage in his left pinkie.

Despite the setback, Fox played 17 games with the Spurs and averaged 19.7 points and 6.8 assists per game.
He is just one of four players since 2017-18 to record 10,000 points, 3,000 assists, and 700 steals, alongside former league MVPs James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Nikola Jokic.
The signing of Fox is a clear indication that the Spurs are committed to building a championship-caliber backcourt, pairing him with franchise cornerstone Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama and Fox only played five games together before the former no. 1 pick was out for the season due to blood clots in his shoulder.
But the duo are expected to banner San Antonio’s charge in the upcoming season in pursuit of ending a six-year playoff drought.
The Fox extension is on top of strong offseason for the Spurs in their build for the future as they also added no. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper.
