Rising star Jalen Green of the Houston Rockets came back to the Philippines on Wednesday.
It is Green’s third visit to the country - his first two visits were in 2018 and 2019 when he particpated in the National Basketball Traning Center as a member of the Fil-Am National Select team.
This time, Green returns to Manila for an exclusive tour as a global ambassador of sports lifestyle brand adidas.
“It is with great pride and excitement that adidas Philippines welcomes another NBA athlete— and most importantly one with Filipino roots— to the country,” said adidas Philippines brand activation manager Jen Dacasin.
“This has been prepared a bit differently from how our previous athlete visits were because firstly, we are taking into consideration the health and safety of Jalen as well as our fellow Filipinos, but also, we wanted to make sure that we give Jalen this opportunity to see and experience a different and more authentic side of the Philippines as he represents the Three Stripes.”
Green will have a press conference Thursday morning at Glorietta 3 before heading to a public event at Ayala Malls Manila Bay later in the day to interact with his fans and participate in various activities showcasing Philippine basketball and street culture.
The 20-year-old Green averaged 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists for the Rockets in his rookie season. He was also named to the 2022 NBA All-Rookie Team.
