On a night they honored an NBA legend, the Toronto Raptors pulled out o strong early-season victory against a team that feature another former franchise leader.
Clad in throwback jerseys, the Raptors retired no. 15 for Vince Carter at halftime, and then beat DeMar DeRozan and the Sacramento Kings in overtime, 131-128, Sunday (PHL) in Toronto.
RJ Barret fired 31 points to lead the Toronto offense, while Chris Boucher added 24 in the Raptors’ second win this season.
Toronto led by as many as 13 points and controlled the game until the Kings had their fourth-quarter run behind De’Aaron Fox.

Fox scored 14 points in the fourth quarter, allowing Sacramento to force extra time despite staring at a 10-point lead. Fox fired blanks in OT though, as Barrett and Gradey Dick, Raptors heroes in last night’s loss to the Lakers, took over for Toronto.
Dick and Ochai Agbaji had 22 each for the Raptors, who improved to 2-5 for the season.
Toronto held a ceremony at halftime to retire the no. 15 jersey of Vince Carter, who played the first six and a half seasons of his 22-season NBA career as a Raptor.

Carter was NBA Rookie of the Year and Slam Dunk champion as a Raptor, and he also helped the franchise to their first playoff appearance.
For Sacramento, DeRozan led the way with 33 points. DeMar is actually the Raptor’s all-time leading scorer, accumulating over 13,000 points during his time in Toronto.
Fox had 24 points, while Domantas Sabonis put up 17 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists.
