The Phoenix Suns’ new era with Kevin Durant is on hold. The Suns announced on Thursday night that the 13-time All-Star, acquired from Brooklyn just before last month’s trade deadline, has suffered a sprained ankle and will be re-evaluated in three weeks.
Durant suffered the injury just before what was to be his home debut in Phoenix on Wednesday against Oklahoma City.
Durant played three road games for Phoenix after missing the previous seven weeks with a right MCL sprain. The Suns won all three games, with Durant and Devin Booker combining to average nearly 62 points on 60.7-percent shooting.
The Suns, who were eliminated by Dallas in the second round last postseason after advancing to the 2021 Finals, entered Thursday night fourth in the Western Conference.
