Paul George has added another setback to his lengthy list of career injuries and after missing half of last season’s games, he enters the 2025-26 NBA campaign facing uncertainty anew.

Paul George’s left knee once again derails his attempt to help the Philadelphia 76ers contend for a championship.

The nine-time All-Star underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to address an injury sustained during a recent workout, according to senior league insider Shams Charania.

George reportedly will begin his rehabilitation program and will be re-evaluated ahead of the September training camp.

After signing a four-year, $212 million contract with the 76ers last year, George’s first season in Philadelphia was plagued by injuries.

He played just 41 games, his lowest total in more than a decade. A combination of knee, groin, and finger issues limited him to 16.2 points per game, the lowest scoring average of his career in over 10 years.

By March, George was ruled out for the remainder of the season due to knee and adductor muscle problems.

His struggles mirrored those of the team, which was ravaged by injuries all season as former MVP Joel Embiid played just 19 games, and Tyrese Maxey, one of the team’s rising stars, appeared in only 52.

The trio of Embiid, George, and Maxey—considered the foundation for a title run—shared the court for only 15 games, totaling just 294 minutes together.

It ended with a disappointing 24-58 record, the worst in Philadelphia’s history since the 1994-95 season and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

The 76ers drafted VJ Edgecombe with the no. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Philadelphia, which hasn’t won a championship since 1983 and hasn’t reached the Finals since 2001, hopes Edgecombe can help turn their fortunes around.

However, for Sixers' title hopes to become a reality, the health of George—alongside Embiid and Maxey—will be crucial to their success next season.
