Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby scored 29 points each, Mikal Bridges made a game-sealing steal, and the Knicks landed the first blow in their East semis duel over the Boston Celtics, 108-105, Tuesday (PH time), May 6.

Bridges played 51 minutes and contributed eight points, seven assists, six rebounds, and two blocks but none bigger than his clutch defensive effort that completed New York’s 20-point comeback.

The Knicks scored the first six points of overtime off an Anunoby three-point play followed by a corner Bridges three for a 106-00 lead.

New York eventually held on en route to scoring their first win this season over Boston since dropping their first four meetings.

Earlier, Brunson had a chance to win for the Knicks in regulation but his floater over the outstretched arms of Al Horford rimmed out.

Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown posted 23 markers each to pace the defending champion Celtics. Boston saw its 20-point lead evaporate after a riveting 31-11 Knicks run tied the game at 86-apiece with 7:26 left to play.

Despite making 15 threes, the reigning champions missed 45 attempts from deep--the most by a single team in playoff history.

Game 2 is set on Thursday, May 8 with the Celtics aiming to tie the series at one-game apiece.
