Coast-to-Coast: LeBron James passes Michael Jordan for NBA record most 30-point games

The Cleveland Cavaliers also became the first team to reach 30 wins this season, while the Oklahoma City Thunder remained as the hottest team with 14 straight dubs.

CJ McCollum tallied the first 50-point game this 2025 on the same night LeBron James eclipsed Michael Jordan for the most 30-point games of all-time. 

Meanwhile, the conference leaders Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder have now combined to win 23 straight games. 


MCCOLLUM DROPS 50-PIECE; LEBRON PASSES MJ ANEW 

  • New Orleans Pelicans (6-26) def. Washington Wizards (6-29), 132-120: CJ McCollum tallied the first 50-point game this 2025 and the eighth overall this season as the Pelicans ended a 11-game slide. 

  • Pouring it All for the Pels: McCollum tied his career-high on top of hitting 10 threes in this skid-stopping win for New Orleans Pelicans, who notched their first victory in over a month. 

  • Detroit Pistons (16-18) def. Charlotte Hornets (7-26), 98-94: Tobias Harris posted a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead the Pistons past the Hornets for back-to-back wins. 

  • Orlando Magic (21-15) def. Toronto Raptors (8-27), 106-97: Rookie Tristan da Silva dropped a career-high 25 points to help the Magic clinched their 21st win of the season at the Raptors’ expense. 

  • LA Lakers (19-14) def. Atlanta Hawks (18-15), 128-115: Lebron James scored his second consecutive 30-point game at 40 years old as the Lakers won their fourth game in the last five.

  • Move Over, MJ: On another historic night, James overtook Michael Jordan for sole possession of the most 30-point games in league history with 563. 


THUNDER, CAVS STAY HOT; WEMBY UPENDS JOKIC 

  • OKC Thunder (29-5) def. New York Knicks (24-11), 117-107: The Thunder staged a riveting fourth quarter rally to snap the Knicks’ nine game-run, while extending their own to 14.

  • Boston Celtics (26-9) def. Houston Rockets (22-12), 109-86: Champion Celtics led by as many as 28 points to hand former coach Ime Udoka and his Rockets a 23-point beating in H-Town. 

  • Cleveland Cavaliers (30-4) def. Dallas Mavericks (20-15), 134-122: The league-leading Cavaliers became the first team to reach 30 wins this season after sending the Mavericks reeling to a fourth straight loss. 

  • San Antonio Spurs (18-16) def. Denver Nuggets (19-14), 113-110: In a battle between two of the brightest big men, Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs got the better of Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in a wild finish.

  • Sacramento Kings (16-19) def. Memphis Grizzlies (23-12), 138-133: The Kings made it three straight wins following a shocking win over the Grizzlies.
