Coast-to-Coast: Nikola Jokic breaches 15K career points; Cavs, Knicks, Sixers stay on point

Denver's Nikola Jokic and Russell Westbrook became just the 15th pair of teammates in league history to record triple-doubles in the same game.

The final gameday of 2024 did not disappointment. 

From Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic’s historic night in Salt Lake City to the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks’ carrying their fiery form heading to 2025, a busy seven-game slate capped off the year with a bang. 


JOKIC, WESTBROOK DROP TRIPLE-DOUBLES; SIXERS CONTINUE TO PICK UP STEAM 

  • Denver Nuggets (18-13) def. Utah Jazz (5-25), 132-121: Nikola Jokic dropped an insane 30-20-10 statline and surpassed the 15,000 career-point mark for back-to-back Nuggets win. 

  • Trip-dub gods: Jokic registered his fourth career game with at least 35 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists while teammate Russell Westbrook notched his second triple-double of the season without committing a turnover and missing a shot. 

 

  • Philadelphia 76ers (13-17) def. Portland Trail Blazers (11-21), 125-103: Joel Embiid went off for a season-high 37 points and the Sixers won four straight games for the first time this season. 

  • Chicago Bulls (15-18) def. Charlotte Hornets (7-25), 115-108: Colby White flirted with a near triple-double in propelling the Bulls past the Hornets in a wild finish in Chapel Hill. 

  • White Wash: White narrowly missed his first-ever trip dub after finishing with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists, Torrey Craig added 18 off the bench and Chicago won back-to-back games after dropping their last three.  


CAVS, KNICK STAY HOT AS KINGS END SLUMP 

  • New York Knicks (23-10) def. Washington Wizards (5-25), 126-106: Josh Hart and  Karl-Anthony Towns combined for 55 points to extend the Knicks’ winning run to eight games to end 2024 on a high.

  • Cleveland Cavaliers (28-4) def. Golden State Warriors (5-25), 113-95: The NBA-best Cavaliers sustain their fiery shooting, hitting 18 or more threes in their last five games en route to pounding the Warriors.

  • Sacramento Kings (14-19) def. Dallas Mavericks (20-13), 110-100: De'Aaron Fox fired a team-high 33 points in helping the Kings snap a six-game skid after foiling the Luka Doncic-less Mavericks. 

  • LA Clippers (19-13) def. New Orleans Pelicans (5-28), 116-113: Norman Powell dropped his sixth 30-point game of the season as the Clippers survived the cellar-dweller Pelicans on the road.
