CAVALIERS, THUNDER AS UNBEATEN TEAMS LEFT STANDING
- Cleveland Cavaliers (5-0) def. Los Angeles Lakers (3-2), 134-110: The Cavaliers spoiled the father-son homecoming of LeBron James and Bronny en route to a league-best 5-0 start to open the season.
[ALSO READ: Surging Cavaliers give LeBron, Bronny James rude homecoming with 24-point rout of Lakers]
- Still spotless: Three players scored 20 or more points for the streaking Cavaliers, with Evan Mobley leading the way with 25. Donovan Mitchell added 24 and Jarret Allen produced a 20-point, 17-rebound double-double.
This marked the third time in franchise history that the Cavs started the season 5-0 and the first time since the 2016-2017 season, led by James.
- One proud dad: After his worst-shooting night in 17 years in their last outing against the Suns, LeBron bounced back with a 26-point performance. But it was not enough to prevent the Lakers from stumbling to their first skid of the season.
As an opponent, James is now 19-3 against the franchise he helped win their lone title in 2016.
His son Bronny also scored his first-ever NBA basket in his first appearance since LA’s season-opening win against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He checked with under five minutes left in the game and scored on a midrange jumper as the crowd erupted in unison.

- Chet strikes first: In their first battle of the season, Chet Holmgren won the opening round against reigning Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama.
But their respective performances were simply day and night.
Holmgren started hot and poured 15 points at halftime to finish with 19. Wemby never got his offensive groove going and was held to a career-low six points. Last season, Wembanyama was held under 10 points three times.
