Karl-Anthony Towns put the heat in Miami for his best game yet wearing a New York Knick uniform, while the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Oklahoma City Thunder remain undefeated.

BIG NIGHT FOR BODEGA KAT

  • New York Knicks (2-2) def. Miami Heat (2-2), 116-107: In a battle between two fierce East rivals, Karl-Anthony Towns shone the brightest while spearheading the Knicks to a bounce-back road win against the Heat.

  • KAT not be stopped: Towns came up with his best game yet as a Knick, exploding for 44 points on an ultra-efficient 17-of-25 shooting alongside 13 rebounds.

  • Still spotless: Three players scored 20 or more points for the streaking Cavaliers, with Evan Mobley leading the way with 25. Donovan Mitchell added 24 and Jarret Allen produced a 20-point, 17-rebound double-double.

This marked the third time in franchise history that the Cavs started the season 5-0 and the first time since the 2016-2017 season, led by James.

  • One proud dad: After his worst-shooting night in 17 years in their last outing against the Suns, LeBron bounced back with a 26-point performance. But it was not enough to prevent the Lakers from stumbling to their first skid of the season.

As an opponent, James is now 19-3 against the franchise he helped win their lone title in 2016.

His son Bronny also scored his first-ever NBA basket in his first appearance since LA’s season-opening win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.  He checked with under five minutes left in the game and scored on a midrange jumper as the crowd erupted in unison.

But their respective performances were simply day and night.

Holmgren started hot and poured 15 points at halftime to finish with 19. Wemby never got his offensive groove going and was held to a career-low six points. Last season, Wembanyama was held under 10 points three times.

  • Golden State Warriors (4-1) def. New Orleans Pelicans (2-3), 104-89: For the second straight night, the Warriors pull off another dominating home victory against the Pelicans.

  • Splash sequel: Buddy Hield was once again a thorn in the Pelicans' side, going off for 21 points as five other Warriors also scored in double-digits.

Through five games, Hield hit a league-leading 24 threes while shooting 50% from deep.

  • Spicy P to the rescue: Pascal Siakam saved the best for last after scoring Indiana’s final five overtime points—including the game-winning triple–and ended up with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and five dimes.

It appeared the Pacers would come out victorious after Tyrese Haliburton put them ahead, 124-21, in regulation only for Jayson Tatum to hit a side-step triple to send the game to overtime.

SNEAKY. SNEAKY.

BULLS, WIZARDS ESTABLISHED WINNING STREAKS; PISTONS NAIL FIRST DUB

  • Chicago Bulls (3-2) def. Orlando Magic (3-2), 102-99: Back-to-back wins for the Bulls for the first time this season at the expense of the Magic despite an ugly fourth quarter showing for both teams.

  • Work in Progress: Coby White had 21 points, Josh Giddey added 20, as Chicago bucked a measly 3-of-15 shooting in the fourth to earn the win still missing guard Lonzo Ball.
  • Bucket-getter Banchero: After his 50-point explosion in their last outing, Paolo Banchero poured in 31 points and was THIS CLOSE from sending the game to overtime.
  • Washington Wizards (2-2) def. Atlanta Hawks (2-3), 133-120: Bilal Coulibaly stole the show as the Wizards put away the Hawks for the second time in three days.

  • Couli-Balled-ly: It was an unforgettable night for Coulibaly, who ended up with a career-high 27 points as Washington swept the home-and-home series against the the Hawks.

  • A mixed homecoming: Tobias Harris registered a 18-point, 14-rebound double-double in his first game back in Philadelphia after signing with the Pistons in the offseason.

Harris, who spent six seasons as a Sixer, was heavily booed in the pre-game introductions.

HORNETS CLAIM FIRST HOME VICTORY AS NETS, TRAIL BLAZERS CAME OUT VICTORIOUS ON THE ROAD

  • Charlotte Hornets (2-2) def. Toronto Raptors (1-4), 138-133: Three Hornets players scored in double-digits in a close win against the reeling Raptors.

  • Young studs bringing the sting: Tre Mann was an instant spark off the bench and led the offense with 27 points, Nick Richards collected 24 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks on a 10-of-14 shooting.

Richards became the first Hornet to register that statline since Dwight Howard.

Mann, who averaged 20 points per game, is off to his career-best start and is currently the top scoring leader off the bench.
  • Brooklyn Nets (2-3) def. Memphis Grizzlies (2-3), 119-106: Dennis Schröder continued his blazing start to the season in leading the Nets to a bounce-back win in Memphis.

  • Welcome to the Menace: Schröder was all over the place and racked up 33 points, eight assists, and six threes made, his third-straight game with at least 25 markers, five or more assists and at least five threes
  • Portland Trail Blazers (2-3) def. Los Angeles Clippers (2-2), 106-105: Anfernee Simons scored 25 points, Deni Avdija completed a game-saving block against Norman Powell, and the Trail Blazers kept the Clippers winless in their brand new home arena, the Intuit Dome.
