Ball over everything: NBA 2K25 officially launched in the Philippines

The long wait is over for the Filipino fans as NBA 2K25 is now available now across all major platforms.

It’s that time of the year, virtual basketball fans. 

The much-awaited NBA 2K25 has been officially launched in the Philippines on Friday, September 6 at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay.

Olympic gold medalists Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics and A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces are the cover athletes of the the latest installment of the NBA 2K series. 

Meanwhile, basketball legend Vince Carter graced the cover of the video games’ Hall of Fame Edition.

The inaugural event saw reigning UAAP NBA2K champion Paolo Medina of the Ateneo de Manila University and runner-up Keegan Yap of De La Salle University get first-hand experience of the game, while also getting the chance to play against eGilas’ Paolo Madronio and Miguel Hubillar.

“I’ve already been playing [NBA 2K25] for the past two days and I can say that it truly feels like a next generation game,” Medina said regarding his overall experience of the gameplay. 

Featuring new dribble engines and signature go-to shots with all-new rhythm shooting mechanics, NBA 2K25 also presents a familiar yet different gameplay, with a bigger emphasis on authentic movement of the game’s biggest stars. 

2K Games Senior Marketing Manager Wayne Ng also revealed that the Philippines will once again host the NBA 2K APAC Championship, with more details coming soon.

“Our fans in the Philippines are some of the most passionate and engaged players in the region. We’re happy to see that the franchise continues to take off in the country, especially with the rise of the eGilas team and the collegiate esports leagues,” Wang told reporters.
