Jayson Tatum is once again making headlines but not for his play in the hard court.

Tatum is joining former First Lady Michelle Obama as co-chair of the “When We All Vote” initiative, encouraging the American citizens to register for the upcoming US presidential elections in November.

“I'm officially excited to join Michelle Obama and the When We All Vote team as a co-chair. Our right to vote is so important, so I had to answer the call,” Tatum said in a video.

The reigning NBA champion and Olympic gold medalist urged his fellow Americans to exercise their rights less than two months before the national poll.

“Today is National Voter Registration Day, and I need you to do two things with me right now. First, head over to whenweallvote.org to register to vote. It only takes a few minutes. Then, text three people and ask them to register, too," Tatum added.

“Election Day is less than 50 days away, so it's time to lock in. Get in the game and register to vote now.”

When We All Vote is a nonpartisan voter registration organization launched by Obama.

Tatum now joins former Team USA teammate Stephen Curry and Chris Paul as the latest basketball stars to support the cause that aims to create awareness among US citizens before the elections, which will be held on November 5.

Former president Donald Trump and current vice president Kamala Harris are going head-to-head for the presidency.

The Celtics superstar is coming off a gold medal campaign for Team USA in Paris 2024, and led Boston to their first NBA title in 16 years after a five-game Finals conquest of the Dallas Mavericks.

That championship run saw the Celtics posted a dominating 16-3 playoff record on top of finishing the regular season with the best overall slate at 64-18.

In 19 postseason games last season, Tatum averaged 25 points, 9.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists to solidify his status as one of the league’s best players.

With the 2024-2025 season kicking off in October, Boston now aims to be the first repeat NBA champions since the Golden State Warriors back in 2017-2018.
