Mikal Bridges won’t be leaving the Big Apple anytime soon.
According to senior NBA insider Shams Charania, Bridges has signed a four-year, $150 million contract extension with the New York Knicks that includes a player option for the 2029-30 season and a trade kicker.

This move solidifies New York’s commitment to its core group, which includes superstars Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Josh Hart, all of whom are under contract through the 2028-29 season.
This offseason, the Knicks have made significant moves to strengthen both their roster and coaching staff. In addition to signing Guerschon Yabusele and Jordan Clarkson for added depth, the team replaced Tom Thibodeau with Mike Brown as head coach.

A two-time NBA Coach of the Year, Brown brings a wealth of experience — including four championships as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs and the Golden State Warriors — to a Knicks team looking to build on their first trip to the Eastern Conference Finals since 2000.

The 28-year-old two-way swingman just finished his first season with the Knicks, averaging 17.6 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.2 rebounds. He played and started in all 82 games over the past two seasons.
New York acquired Bridges in a multi-player trade with the Brooklyn Nets in July 2024. Prior to that, he spent over four seasons with the Phoenix Suns, including a trip to the NBA Finals in 2021.
Bridges earned a spot on the NBA All-Defensive First Team after the 2021-22 season as a member of the Suns.
