LeBron James had 30 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds, while Anthony Davis had 28 points and 13 rebounds in the Los Angeles Lakers’ seventh victory in nine games, 123-118 over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, Philippine time.
In the matchup of the young buck and the NBA superstar, rookie Victor Wembanyama finished with 27 points, 10 boards, and eight assists in his first game in Crypto.com Arena versus the Lakers. He contributed five blocks and five steals, making him the youngest player in NBA history to achieve the rare “5x5” statistical performance — at least five points, rebounds, assists, blocks, and steals in one game.
Wemby was unstoppable in the first quarter, having his 16 points out of his 27. However, his direct opponent Davis took over and controlled the offense in the next two quarters of play.

A 19-8 run in the final frame gave the Lakers a comfortable lead that kept the Spurs at bay. San Antonio fought back throughout the rest of the quarter, but never made it a super competitive game.

D’Angelo Russell scored 22 points and six assists in the win. Rui Hachimura tallied 16 points. James came back strong after missing the Lakers' last two games to rest his sore ankle, although he played in the All-Star Game in between.

Malaki Branham and Jeremy Sochan contributed 17 and 15 points for San Antonio, respectively. Sochan also paced them with 13 rebounds.

The win allowed the Lakers to strengthen their hold of the ninth spot in the West with a 31-27 record. The Spurs stay at the bottom with 11-46.
