Mavericks vs. Suns, 8:30 AM on NBA League Pass

Head-to-head results

Nov. 18: Suns 105, Mavericks 98

Nov. 20: Suns 112, Mavericks 104

Storyline

The Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks will put their identical four-game winning streaks on the line in this compelling matchup. They will go head-to-head for the first time in 2022, with both squads going on a tear as of late.

The Mavericks, in particular, have been on fire since the start of the new year. They went 9-1 in their previous 10 games to climb to 5th in the standings, avoiding a potential disaster in the play-in tournament. They will now run into a buzz saw as only a few teams have been able to dull the Suns.

With the Golden State Warriors struggling, Phoenix has seized the moment to rise to the top of not just the Western Conference, but the entire NBA standings at 34-9. With Devin Booker playing absolutely out of his mind – highlighted by a 48-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs – and Chris Paul running the show, the Suns have been elite on both ends of the floor, cementing their place at the top of the league.

Key matchup

All eyes will be on the intriguing guard matchup between Booker and Luka Doncic. While Booker scored the aforementioned 48 points in their recent win, Doncic was not so bad himself against the Toronto Raptors. Doncic scored a season-high 41 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and dished seven assists in the 102-98 victory to help the Mavs keep their winning streak intact. Which superstar guard will be able to deliver back-to-back brilliant performances?

Stat to track

The Mavericks haven’t had a lot of good memories playing against the Suns. The last time they got a win over Phoenix was on November 29, 2019. In that 120-113 victory, Doncic scored 42 points to pace his team. Since then, the Suns have put together a whopping eight straight wins over the Mavericks to assert their dominance over Doncic and company. Can they make it nine in a row, or will Dallas finally snap the skid?
