Luka Doncic and the Mavericks will host top rookie Paolo Banchero and the Magic.

What we like about the Magic

The Magic have only won once after six games but despite that, they've been an interesting team to watch. And that's because of their hotshot rookie.

Paolo Banchero, the first pick in this year's draft, has been on a tear to start the season. He's been averaging 24.0 points (highest among all rookies), 45% shooting, 7.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game.

Other players who have displayed a ton of upside are Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs, who both can shoot from the outside and create turnovers off steals.

Orlando is focused on developing its young players, hoping they continue to progress in the right direction. The Magic won't win many games this season but their young core gives us a reason to check in on them once in a while.

What we like about the Mavericks

Someone who's also been hot to open the season is Luka Doncic.

After a fantastic stint in the EuroBasket, Doncic hasn't missed a beat in the Mavericks' first four games. Though they are 2-2, Luka Magic has carried the load, averaging 36.3 points, 9.5 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and 2.0 steals. Yup, those are MVP-type numbers right there.

This year, he doesn't have to do everything by himself, though. He has a lot of tools at his disposal, starting with Christian Wood, who's been terrific off the bench with averages of 21.0 points and 8.0 rebounds. Imagine what more he could do if Jason Kidd allows him to play over 30 minutes a game.

With the departure of Jalen Brunson, Spencer Dinwiddie has been a big help in the backcourt with regard to playmaking and scoring. The healthy Tim Hardaway Jr. is also a huge boost on offense for the Mavs. It's only a matter of time before Dallas can string together some wins, and this matchup with Orlando could be the start.
