Nov. 26: Bucks 120, Nuggets 109
What’s up with the Denver Nuggets?
The Denver Nuggets are slowly but surely finding themselves despite the myriad of injuries that continues to hound them, and it’s all because of the brilliant play of the reigning MVP Nikola Jokic.
Jokic, who racked up his 12th triple-double of the season in the Nuggets’ win versus the New Orleans Pelicans, has been incredible in this stretch of the season. Over the last eight games, the Serbian star has averaged 29.3 points, 13.1 rebounds and 10.5 assists, which is a big reason why the Nuggets are currently riding a four-game winning streak.
With Jokic playing at a high level, plus the continued contributions of Aaron Gordon and Monte Morris, the Nuggets have found a way to excel despite the continued absence of Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr., two key players in Coach Mike Malone’s rotation.
What’s up with the Milwaukee Bucks?
The Bucks have also been rock solid as of late, winning four out of their last five games. With Giannis Antetokounmpo’s dominant play, Milwaukee is quietly rounding back into the form that made them champions last season.
The Greek Freak’s 38 points and 13 rebounds stood out in the Bucks’ 123-108 win over the New York Knicks, but well-balanced contributions from Jrue Holiday (24 points, 10 assists) and Khris Middleton (20 points) make the Bucks so deadly.
Storyline to watch out for
These aren’t your regular superstars that are going head-to-head. Jokic and Antetokounmpo are must-see TV at all times.
Both teams are hovering outside of the Play-In Tournament bracket, with the Bucks currently fifth in the East and the Nuggets sixth in the West. With the All-Star Weekend break looming, both squads are looking to finish strong so that they can get ready for the unofficial second half of the season.
The Nuggets will need to find a way to stop Antetokounmpo from beasting again like he did in their first matchup this season. Giannis’ 24-13 double-double was the difference-maker in their first matchup. Can Jokic lead his squad to a victory on the road?
