Coast-to-Coast: Jaden Ivy wins it at the buzzer; Porzingis returns for streaking Celtics as Thunder regains top spot in West

A nine-game NBA Tuesday saw some clutch Jaden Ivy heroics for the Pistons, Kristaps Porzingis making his season debut for the reigning champion Celtics and career-night for the Knicks’ OG Anunoby.   

JADEN IVY WINS IT AT THE BUZZER AS THUNDER REGAIN TOP SPOT IN THE WEST 

  • Detroit Pistons (8-11) def. Toronto Raptors (4-14), 102-100: Jaden Ivy drilled the buzzer-beating basket for a thrilling Pistons home dub over the Raptors. 
  • Poison Ivey: Ivey drove to the basket and hit a clutch jumper to break a 100 deadlock, capping off a 25-point outing with his own clutch heroics. 


  • OKC Thunder (13-4) def. Sacramento Kings (8-10), 130-109: Back on solo top spot in the West are the Thunder after crushing the Kings in Sacramento. 
  • SGA Showed Way in Sac-Town:  Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dropped a double-double of 37 points, 11 assists as OKC improved to 13-5 and leapfrogged the Golden State Warriors after their loss against the Brooklyn Nets at home. 

RETURNING PORZINGIS KEEP THE CELTICS ROLLING; NETS SCORE STUNNER OVER WARRIORS 

  •  Boston Celtics (15-3) def. LA Clippers (11-8), 126-94: Kristaps Porzingis scored 16 points in his season debut as the defending champion Celtics steamrolled past the Clippers for a sixth-straight win.

  • Brooklyn Nets (8-10) def. Golden State Warriors (12-5), 123-98: Dennis Schroder led the way as the Nets pulled off an upset dub over Stephen Curry and the Warriors. 
  •  Menacing at the Bay: Schroder finally hit the stride after three sub-par games, exploding for 31 points to trump Curry’s 28. 
  • Memphis Grizzlies (11-7) def. Portland Trail Blazers (7-11), 123-98: Ja Morant tallied 22 points on top of 11 assists to anchor a ruthless Grizzlies showing at home.  
  • New York Knicks (10-7) def. Denver Nuggets (9-7), 145-118: OG Anunoby went off for a career-night in Denver, dropping a 40-piece in a bounce-back win of Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets.

MAGIC, PACERS, MAVS RACK UP W’S 

  • Orlando Magic (12-7) def. Charlotte Hornets (6-131), 95-84: Make it three straight wins for the Magic, who overcame LaMelo Ball’s 44 points to come out victorious in Charlotte.
  •  Indiana Pacers (8-10) def. New Orleans Pelicans (4-14), 114-100: Tyrese Haliburton put on a show in front of his home fans as the Pacers sent the Pelicans reeling to a fifth straight loss.
  • Hey Hali: Haliburton went to work and posted 34 points, 13 assists, nine threes and three steals in a dazzling display for Indiana, who now won two straight after dropping their previous three games.

  • Dallas Mavericks (10-8) def. Atlanta Hawks (7-11), 129-119: The Mavericks are now 2-1 without Luka Doncic this season as Kyrie Irving took over in a bounce-back decision against the Hawks.
