The LA Clippers soured the Golden State Warriors’ home opener at Chase Center as they took the victory, 112-104, in San Francisco on Sunday night (Monday morning, Manila time).

Paced by Ivica Zubac, the Clippers handed the Warriors their first loss of the season in a game that also saw Warriors superstar Steph Curry leave early because of an ankle injury.

Curry tweaked his left ankle twice before leaving the floor for good midway through the fourth quarter. Golden State head coach Steve Kerr said that Curry deemed the injury “mild or moderate”.

Zubac and the Clippers dominated inside as they outscored the Warriors, 60-38, in points in the paint.

Zubac and James Harden both had all-around games for LA with the former finishing with a double-double of 23 points, 18 rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block.

Harden, for his part, flirted with the triple-double with 23 markers, seven rebounds, and 11 assists.

Before leaving the game with his injury, Curry had 18 points, four rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block in the losing effort.

Andrew Wiggins topscored for the home team with 29 points, three rebounds, one steal, and one block.

Both teams are at 2-1 for the year.
