Minnesota issued a strong statement Sunday (PHL) to open the 2024 NBA Playoffs, torching the Phoenix Suns by way of a dominant 120-95 win.
Anthony Edwards 18 points in the third and finished with a game-high 33, leading the no. 3 Timberwolves to their first win this season over Phoenix and a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Karl-Anthony Towns returned from injury and added 19 for Minnesota, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker was good for 18 off the bench.
Minnesota started to take control by halftime, but a 19-4 run to end the third, sparked by Edwards, was the telling difference in favor of the Timberwolves.

Phoenix got 31 points from Kevin Durant, but not much from the rest of the “Big 3.”
Devin Booker scored 18 for the Suns on just 5/16 shooting, while Bradley Beal was only good for 15.
Minnesota will once again host Game 2 for Wednesday (PHL), before the series shifts to Phoenix for Games 3 and 4.
