Just like that, Anthony Davis’ LA Lakers tenure came to an end.

In perhaps the trade of the decade, Davis was dealt to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for superstar Luka Doncic in a blockbuster deal that sent shockwaves to the very foundation of the league.

Reality sank in for AD, who penned a farewell message to the franchise and fan base on Tuesday, February 4.

"6 years ago, I came here with the vision to win a championship, and I will never forget the moment we did! The business of basketball is a business just like all other businesses. I am grateful to the city where my first ring came from, grew my family and friendships and I will always have a home here,” Davis wrote on social media.

The superstar big man also extended gratitude to his teammates, while expressing excitement in his new journey with the team who were just three wins away from winning the NBA title last season.

"To my teammates: our friendships go beyond a locker room and a jersey… LA will always have a special place in my heart. Every great story has an exciting next chapter. Dallas--here we come!” he added.

Davis came to LA via trade before the 2019-2020 season and helped the Purple and Gold squad win the championship inside the Walt Disney World bubble.

During that championship run, A.D averaged 27.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists on top of 1.4 blocks and 1.2 steals.

Now the 31-year-old joins Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, and the Mavericks squad are aiming for a late season playoff push after a slow start to the season.

Dallas is at Play-In territory so far behind a 26-24 record and the arrival of one of the premier two-way players in the game can be a catalyst for another deep postseason run.
