With Bird on her retirement tour, the two played in their final matchup against each other. The game wasn’t at all nail-biting with Taurasi’s Phoenix Mercury winning over Bird’s Seattle Storm by 20 points.
Bird, the league’s all-time assists leader, had five assists while Taurasi exploded with 28 points on six 3s. What a tribute to an all-time great like Bird.
Phoenix also celebrated Bird’s career with a customized pair of Air Jordans–a perfect GOAT moment to wrap up decades of amazing battles between two best friends.

Game of the week
It could’ve been just another game in Brooklyn when the New York Liberty faced the Chicago Sky. One team (Liberty) was on a five-game losing streak while the other (Sky) was on a six-game winning streak (Sky). Both of those streaks ended in a fun and spectacular fashion.
Sabrina Ionescu rocked the Kobe Mambacita Sweet 16s in this game, which was attended by Vanessa Bryant and her daughters. Ionescu gave them a trademark Mamba moment by hitting one clutch shot after another in the final seconds of the game.

Liberty stole a big win from the defending champs thanks to Ionescu’s 17-8-9 stat line.
Big-time ballers
The Las Vegas Aces continue to go all in on the greatness of A’ja Wilson. In seven straight games, Wilson has scored 20 or more points - the most in her team’s history.

Alyssa Thomas has also been huge for the Connecticut Sun, dropping a monster 15-point, 12-assist, 10-rebound game.
It was Thomas’ first career triple-double, becoming the league’s 11th player in history to get a triple-double.
Thomas followed it up with a double-double game against the Minnesota Lynx. She’s not done yet.
