Reigning WNBA champion and New York Liberty superstar Sabrina Ionescu is slated for a Philippine return for the first time since the 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, as she heads to Manila for her first Asian tour during the WNBA offseason.

Together with sports giant Nike, Ionescu will be making stops in the Philippines and China in March as she hopes to share the message of empowerment with young hoopers and further introduce herself to the global basketball community.

Her activities in Manila, which begin March 10, coincide with International Women’s Month.

“I’m excited to connect with basketball fans across Manila, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, especially young hoopers. You can feel their passion for the game, even from New York,” said Ionescu.

“Together we will celebrate the game, and I hope we inspire each other to achieve our dreams with dedication, commitment and hard work.”

Ionescu, who is also an Olympic gold medalist, starts off her Manila tour with a visit to Nike Fort in Bonifacio Global City where she will participate in a panel talk with fellow Nike athletes and coaches.

The panel will talk about breaking barriers and defying stereotypes in an effort to inspire Filipino hoopers to realize their dreams and inspire the next generation.

Giving back to the community, Ionescu will also lead a basketball clinic at The Courtyard, along with launching a Nike Sabrina 2 collaboration, and lastly participate in an electrifying showcase with some of the Philippines’ best professional and collegiate players at the famed Araneta Coliseum.

At the historic Big Dome, Ionescu will get to experience up close how Pinoy hoopers play the game.

The WNBA superstar will take part in an exhibition game and do a 3-point shootout challenge on March 11 to culminate her stay.

All her activities open to the public will be free of charge and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
