Naji Marshall and the Dallas Mavericks take down another contender in the West without superstar Luka Doncic.

Marshall stepped up on the plate and scored a career-high 26 points as the Mavericks blew a 24-point lead but hung on to upend the Denver Nuggets, 123-120, for back-to-back NBA Cup wins.

He scored on a clutch floater to give the Mavs breathing room with a 119-115 lead with 18.1 seconds left in regulation.

After two Russell Westbrook misses from the foul line, Nikola Jokic got the offensive rebound and found a wide open Jamal Murray, who drilled a clutch shot of his own to make it 119-118 Dallas.

Kyrie Irving then got fouled and calmly made two freebies for the Mavericks, before Murray drilled a pair of his own from the charity stripe, the second one unintentionally going in.

PJ Washington got tested in the free throw line and hit a couple before intercepting a Peyton Watson long pass that sealed the Mavs win.

Washington finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds for a nice double-double, while Kyrie Irving added 19 and Quinten Grimes poured 15 more for Dallas.

Luka Doncic missed another game due to a right wrist strain he sustained in Dallas’ 132-91 demolition of the New Orleans Pelicans in their last outing. The Mavericks earlier beat the OKC Thunder without Doncic, who is expected to miss a week.

Jokic finished with 33 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists for his fifth straight triple-double. It was his first game back since missing three straight due to personal reasons.

Michael Porter Jr. and Christian Braun added 17 apiece for Denver, while Westbrook added 16 off the bench.

The Nuggets retaliated with a blistering 27-6 flurry in the third quarter after trailing by as many as 24 points, cutting the Mavericks lead at 83-80 with under four minutes left in the third frame.

With momentum, Denver tasted its first lead of the game at 108-106 off a Peyton Watson corner triple with 5:34 remaining.

The Nuggets aim to bounce back when they face the LA Lakers (10-5) tomorrow, while the Mavericks continue their three-game road trip in Miami to face the Heat (6-7).
