Russell Westbrook set the all-time record for triple-doubles after posting 28 points, 13 boards, and 21 dimes on Tuesday (PHT).

Scoreboard

Trail Blazers 140, Rockets 126
Hawks 125, Wizards 124
Pacers 111, Cavaliers 102
Grizzlies 115, Pelicans 110
Spurs 146, Bucks 125
Warriors 119, Jazz 116

What went down

The main headline out of Tuesday’s game is Russell Westbrook’s record-setting night. After dropping 28 points, 13 rebounds, and 21 assists, Westbrook now has the most triple-doubles in NBA history. Unfortunately, the Wizards failed to beat the Hawks as Trae Young had a big game himself (36 points, nine assists, and six boards).

Westbrook even had a chance to win the game but his 3-pointer missed at the buzzer. How crazy would it be if he got the game-winner after claiming the triple-double record?

With the Wizards losing and the Pacers getting a win over the Cavaliers, Westbrook and company slid back as the 10th seed in the East.

The West also had showcased a playoff preview type of game as Warriors took down the top-seeded Jazz. Steph Curry fired 36 points and drilled the go-ahead triple with 14.5 seconds left for the Warriors who led by as many as 18 points. The Jazz fought all the way back and made a game out of it thanks to the heroics of Jordan Clarkson and his 41 points off the bench.

Big-time baller

You know we have to break down Westbrook’s historic feat.

The former MVP now sits on top of the triple-double mountain after notching the 182nd of his career, surpassing former record-holder Oscar Robertson.

The new triple-double king posted an eye-popping 28-13-21 line and got the record after grabbing a rebound with under nine minutes left in the game.

Westbrook broke what was once thought an unbreakable feat as he eclipsed Robertson’s 47-year-old record.

Another cool tidbit on his performance is that it was his fifth career-triple double against the Hawks. According to ESPN Stats and Info, he now has at least five triple-doubles versus 23 teams.

What he said

Westbrook normally doesn’t fuss about stats and his accomplishments, but even Brodie knows when to revel in a historic moment.

"Normally I don't like to pat myself on the back, but tonight I will. I am just so grateful for those that came before me."

Did you see that?

Jordan Clarkson scored 21 of his 41 points in the fourth quarter against the Warriors. The guy was in takeover mode and nobody on the other team could stop him. He ultimately fell short in the end, missing the potential game-tying basket.
