What went down
Klay Thompson unleashed 41 points on the final day of the regular season to tow the Golden State Warriors past the New Orleans Pelicans. The Warriors clinched the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and set a first-round playoffs matchup with the sixth-seeded Denver Nuggets.
Thompson made seven of his 14 3-point attempts, while Jordan Poole finished with 22 points and five assists in the victory that extended their streak to five games.
Brandon Ingram (hamstring), Herbert Jones (lower leg), Jonas Valanciunas (ankle), and Devonte' Graham (knee) did not play for the Pelicans, who were already assured of the ninth spot and a play-in bout against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Dallas Mavericks, on the other hand, took care of business against the Spurs at home. Luka Doncic, whose 16th technical foul and its corresponding suspension penalty were rescinded, exited the game late in the third quarter with a calf strain. He posted 26 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists in 28 minutes of play.
With Doncic out, the Mavs’ reserves led by Theo Pinson (16 points on 5-of-5 shooting) held the fort in the closing minutes, even amidst a 3-point barrage from the Spurs. Keldon Johnson top-scored for San Antonio with 24 points.
Big-time baller
While Klay Thompson torched the Pelicans with 41 points, Houston Rockets rookie Jalen Green had a 41-point show of his own in a loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
The Fil-Am guard bounced back from his eight-point outing against the Toronto Raptors, finishing his debut season with six 30-point performances in his last seven games.
“It meant a lot to end the year strong, especially with the performance I put up in Toronto. I wanted to come back home and put on a show,” Green said.
What he said
Adrian Wojnarowski earlier reported that the Lakers are set to part ways with Vogel.
Frank Vogel has coached his final game for the Lakers, a decision that’s expected to be shared with him as soon as Monday, sources tell ESPN. Lakers’ search expected to be lengthy and expansive with no clear initial frontrunner.

This was Frank Vogel’s reaction when asked about his future with the Lakers:
"I haven't been told s--- and I'm going to enjoy tonight's game, celebrate what these young guys did in terms of scratching and clawing and getting back in this game and getting a W, and we'll deal with tomorrow tomorrow.”
Did you see that?
Austin Reaves gave the Lakers something to celebrate despite the disappointing season. He dropped a triple-double of 31 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists to become the fifth Lakers rookie to notch a triple-double, joining Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Magic Johnson, and Lonzo Ball.
When your teammate becomes the first undrafted rookie in NBA history to drop a 30-point triple-double.
