Despite all the roster turnover, the Celtics have played pretty smooth basketball through their first five games. They’re beating teams by an average of 18.4 points per game. They also have five players averaging double-digits in points, led by Jayson Tatum.

Today, Tatum put up a smooth 32 points and 11 rebounds as the Nets didn’t have anyone to match up against him. He also reached a milestone, becoming the 15th player to reach 10,000 career points before turning 26.
In Indiana, the Charlotte Hornets escaped the Pacers for their second win of the season. It came down to the wire as Charlotte needed an unlikely hero to pull out the win – LaMelo Ball on defense, trying to stop a red-hot Tyrese Haliburton.

Haliburton finished the game with a career-high 43 points and 12 assists. But that wasn’t enough as the Hornets also got a career game from Mark Williams, who had 27 points – the most he’s scored in his two-year NBA career.
Out West, the defending champs continued to dominate. Today, the Denver Nuggets victimized the Chicago Bulls for their sixth win in seven games.

Does he love basketball? Who really knows? But Nikola Jokic has continued to make dominating the best league in the world look easy. He finished the game with a near-triple-double of 28 points, 16 rebounds, and nine assists.
Big-time baller
If Jokic makes basketball effortless, Anthony Edwards makes it look like the coolest sport in the world. Today, he was in his bag, pushing the Minnesota Timberwolves past the Utah Jazz.

Ant torched the Jazz for 31 points on 13-for-19 shooting. He consistently plays with the grace of a swan and the explosiveness of TNT – the biggest reason to tune into Timberwolves basketball.
What he said
We can’t be a superstar all the time in our daily lives. At least, that’s what Nuggets head coach Michael Malone thinks of everyone, except Nikola Jokic.

Did you see that?
On his 23rd birthday, Tyrese Maxey had a career game, dropping 22 points and a career-high 10 assists in Philadelphia’s win over Phoenix. He even paid tribute to Sixers legend James Harden by hitting his celebration after drilling a triple over Kevin Durant.

It’s a rematch of the 2020 Finals tomorrow as the Los Angeles Lakers visit the Miami Heat. We’re far removed from the bubble, but many of the protagonists have stayed the same.
