What went down

In a rematch of last season's NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors rekindled some of that June magic to clobber the league-leading Boston Celtics.

Much has been said about the Warriors’ lack of depth and defense this season. Today, they locked up Boston’s MVP candidate Jayson Tatum, holding him to 18 points on 6-for-21 shooting. Though Jaylen Brown had 31 points, no other Celtic could get much going in San Francisco.

In turn, the Splash Brothers had a vintage outing, combining for 10 triples. Steph Curry finished with 32 points and seven assists while Klay Thompson managed 34 markers.

The Warriors really needed this win, having lost their last two games. They’re now 14-13, just on the outskirts of the play-in picture. For Boston, they're still cruising with a 25-6 record.

Big-time baller

The Brooklyn Nets entered today’s game against the Indiana Pacers without all their starters and just nine players in uniform. Somehow, they still pulled off the win.

It's all thanks to sophomore Cam Thomas.

The gun-happy guard drained 21 of his career-high 33 points in the fourth quarter. For much of his young career with the Nets, Thomas has had to pick his spots but he maximizes any opportunity he gets. Today, without KD or Kyrie, he had the greenest light.

What he said

Today, John Wall made his first appearance in Washington since 2019. His Los Angeles Clippers earned the win against the Wizards, but probably more important for Wall was the love he received from the organization and fans.

Did you see that?

Prior to their finals rematch, the Warriors retired Bill Russell’s No. 6 in a touching ceremony. The Celtics legend is an Oakland native. His family moved to the Bay Area when he was young and he went to high school there.

Canyon Curry also had a bit to say after the Warriors won against Boston.
