Julius Randle scored 37 points to steer the Knicks to a victory over the Celtics.

Scoreboard

Knicks 120, Celtics 117 (OT)

Pistons 130, Nets 122

Hornets 111, Bulls 96

Cavaliers 113, Rockets 95

Mavericks 99, Suns 95

Clippers 138, Spurs 100

What went down

Julius Randle had 37 points and nine rebounds to help the Knicks beat the Celtics, the team which currently has the best record.

New York took control late in the second half and held a 14-point lead in the fourth. But the Celtics clamped down on defense and allowed just four points from their opponents in the last five and a half minutes.

The game went into overtime and with the Knicks clinging on to a 118-117 lead, Jaylen Brown missed two crucial free throws and failed to give the Celtics the advantage with 7.6 remaining. After RJ Barret sank his charities the Celtics had two chances to tie but Jayson Tatum’s triple misfired and Jalen Brunson blocked Malcolm Brogdon’s desperation shot. Brunson finished with 29 points and seven assists.

Tatum ended up with 35 points and 14 rebounds while Brown had 22 points in a losing effort.

Big-time baller

Spencer Dinwiddie balled out big-time for the Mavericks who were shorthanded because Luka Doncic left the game versus the Suns with an ankle sprain. He exploded for a season-high 36 points on 10-for-18 shooting, five triples, six rebounds, and nine assists, plus he only had one turnover.

Luka has been doing literally everything for the Mavs so it was good to see Dinwiddie tap into his inner star and shine.

What he said

It’s been three years since we lost Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi, and seven others.
