What went down
The only game of the day did not disappoint. With the Dallas Mavericks and the Detroit Pistons facing off to correct their respective win-loss records, they needed extra time to do so.
Luka Doncic was expected to go off against the underdog Pistons, after dropping a 41-12-12 line against the Golden State Warriors.
He delivered, leading the Mavericks with 35 points and dishing out 10 assists. But it was Detroit’s night.
Despite losing the lead early in the fourth and allowing Reggie Bullock to tie the game with 22 seconds left in regulation, the Pistons created enough space in overtime to escape with the win.
Six Pistons finished in double figures, led by Bojan Bogdanovic (30 points) and Killian Hayes (22 points). Doncic got help from Tim Hardaway Jr. (26 points) and Christian Wood (25 points) but a dismal game from Spencer Dinwiddie hurt Dallas.
Dinwiddie didn’t score a field goal and was held to two points off free throws.
The Mavericks have now lost six of their last eight while the Pistons aren’t that much better, only winning three of their last 10.
