What went down

The number one team in the East faced off against the second-best team in the West as the Brooklyn Nets were able to outgun the Phoenix Suns.

It was dubbed as a potential Finals preview. Maybe. In any case, the game had a feel of a feisty playoff matchup.

The huge story coming out of Brooklyn is the return of Kevin Durant. After missing the last three games with a bruised left thigh, he once again proved that he can get buckets anytime he’s on the floor. It was just another day at the office for Durant who had 33 points, going 12-for-21 from the field.

Kyrie Irving was just as special as he dropped 34 points and 12 dimes for the now 41-20 Nets. On the Suns’ side, Devin Booker’s 36 points were not enough. Phoenix has lost back-to-back games, but still holds the second seed in the West with a 42-18 record.

Big-time baller

There were a lot of notable performances from Monday’s games, but the brightest star of all was Durant. We already talked about his 33 points, but he also grabbed six rebounds, handed out four assists, got two steals, and a block. It’s a mind-boggling stat line considering that he only registered 28 minutes off the bench.

What he said

The Wizards have won eight straight - their longest streak in 20 years!

Here’s Bradley Beal on Washington’s impressive run: "It’s a blessing. It’s an honor for sure. But we don’t pat ourselves on the back or anything like that because we’re still got our work cut out… It means a lot to be a part of history but looking in hindsight and looking ahead what we’re trying to accomplish, we still got a lot of things to improve on in a short amount of time."

Did you see that?

We can now add KD and Mike Conley with Kobe Bryant as Oscar winners from the NBA.
