What went down
The Los Angeles Lakers used a second half surge and had their championship-level defense on full display to thwart the Denver Nuggets. After being down by 12 at the half, the Lakers turned it up in the third, crushing their opponents, 37-17, including a 15-0 run to close out the period. The Nuggets never really recovered after that beatdown.
LeBron James was methodical in this game, notching his 96th career triple-double with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Stars Anthony Davis and Nikola Jokic were both relatively quiet in the showdown between two of the best big men in the league. AD had 13 points and nine rebounds, while the Joker was limited to just 13 points, although he did have 10 boards and six dimes.
Big-time baller
Kelly Oubre Jr. finally found his shooting stroke as he erupted for a personal-best 40 points, including seven made triples, versus the Dallas Mavericks.
Oubre had tough shoes to fill entering this season with the Golden State Warriors’ loss of Klay Thompson. He had a horrible start finding a rhythm on the offensive end and has been inconsistent, to say the least.
The athletic wingman headed into Friday’s contest shooting just 23.1 percent from deep and 37.6 percent overall. So it’s good to see him finally get his shot going against the Mavericks. And who knows, this might be the moment that will kickstart his offensive game.
What he said
''It felt a lot like summer league. I think I only called plays out of timeouts. It was like the `Run TMC' days. I just needed my fish tie,” coach Steve Kerr said on the fast-paced action between the Warriors and the Mavericks.
The 147 points were the most points scored by Golden State so far this season.
Did you see that?
Former Slam Dunk Contest champion Donovan Mitchell is undeniably a dunk maestro, but even a conductor drops his baton every now and then.

Another light moment fans deserve to see is a happy DeMarcus Cousins photobombing the camera and applauding the referee’s call.
